Is it just me?

M6809
McCalls 6809 Boot Wraps

Or is this the ugliest/stupidest thing/pattern that has ever been produced in the history of the world?

Tell me. Honestly. If I am old and have no taste or clue as to what is happening in the world of fashion let me know. I really am curious if people actually like these.

Oh yeah, McCall's autumn patterns are out, seems premature to me, seeing as summer hasn't really made an appearance yet. They have some interesting patterns. I may even have to buy one.

  1. What are you talking about? I can't wait to make a pair of view E in white so people will know that I slew a Wampa snow beast from the ice world of Hoth. I will be tres "yeti chic" as I clomp around the streets of NY looking fierce. (hee hee hee)

There are a few nice patterns. I particularly like the Tracey Reese dress. But I'm ready to move on from peplums and mullet hems, which still seem to dominate.

    1. can you kill a wampa for boot fur without a lightsaber? or at least a hunting permit?

    2. All I can imagine is how bad these things will look after trudging through slush and mud. So chic.

  2. Jesus christ on a hotplate.

That's all I have to say about boot wraps.

  3. Definitely not just you; they're awful! And really silly - why would one want or need a boot wrap? In case your boots... aren't stylish?
I love reading the PR boards when new patterns are released; they rip into patterns like this something fierce!

  4. Oh no... that puts the capitol letters in WTF. It reminds me of one of the "Wearable Wednesday" posts from Pretty Grievances a long while ago. Wasn't there one with men covered in fun fur? I can't find the mens wear I'm picturing, but I bet this was their inspiration.

  5. I used to have a furry pair of boots that looked something like that, but it was part of the boot. Those are ugly and I think impractical. Wouldn't they get wet and messy looking?

  6. Takes me back to the leg warmer days in the 80's! Don't want to visit them again (but I did have a groovy caramel knitted pair back then).

  7. I actually like leg warmers, but that's because I like wearing skirts but am wimpy when it's cold out (i.e. my idea of too cold for bear legs is below at least 0 C). However, these are really ugly, especially those Wookie-skinned ones. Poor Chewbacca. :(

Eh, I don't really like any of the autumn patterns, honestly. They're mostly silhouettes I can't pull off or don't like.

  8. Well ladies, I wear these 3 times a week at least. In brown neoprene or suede. Over paddock boots. Sometimes with spurs attached. :-)

I would totally love a pair of patterned half chaps...the cowboys would be laughing so hard, they'd fall off their horses.

  9. Holy Crap....for $18.95 retail we are asked to pay this for a pattern for tubes? Tubes...like we are sooo stupid we could not measure our ankle or calf and come up with a wrap and a strap? What an insult! What next...arm wraps? Maybe these can be made up and stuffed with pillow stuffing and gathered at each end and called a roll pillow? Calling Jane Fonda...you leg warmers are back in style...heaven help us!

  10. I'm going to have to stand with Tim Gunn in referring to things like this as 'Becky Home-Ecy' and shudder distainfully.
